STAFF - Meet the Cranedale Team

Kirsty Welch. Tutor

BSc Natural Sciences (Lancaster), First Aid at Work

Having grown up in the Peak District I’ve always spent a lot of my time outdoors developing a fascination in the world around me and why it looks like it does! This passion for the outdoors took me to Lancaster University where I studied for a degree in Natural Sciences. Here I was able to conduct fieldwork studying the natural environments of the Lake District National Park and the Trough of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as well as the human environments of Manchester and Liverpool.

I then went on to volunteer with the Groundwork Trust for 6 months in Oldham & Rochdale as a project management intern working within their communities and education departments before being taken on by PGL to work as a Field Studies and Outdoor Education instructor at their Osmington Bay Centre in Dorset. Here I was lucky enough to teach geography, geology and biology along the spectacular Jurassic Coast for 18 months.

In my spare time I enjoy all kinds of outdoor pursuits including climbing and mountain biking as well as spending lots of time with my horse Kia!
